Katja Herbers is the daughters of violinist Vera Beths and oboist Werner Herbers. As a child, she spent time in America with her mother as she went on tours with the chamber music ensemble L'Archibudelli. Her mother got married again Anner Bylsma, the cellist. her father married costume creator Leonie Polek. She introduced her theater. As she grew older she had an au pair who originated from Canada.
